Living with Fearful Dogs Boise IDAHO June 21-23, 2024 Individual Days
There are very few workshops that cover severely fearful and feral dogs. Many traditional training methods and dogmas do not help fearful & feral dogs sufficiently. Fearful and feral dogs have so much to teach us as trainers and as humans. Learn how to listen to what they are saying and how to help them in this unique workshop. Using methods based in relationship and built on trust, I have been training and rehabilitating fearful and feral dogs for 14 years. I have developed a nose-centric method that takes fearful/feral dogs to happy companion dogs in a shorter amount of time without depending on food based rewards or using medication. I teach how to connect with the dogs in ways that allows humans to form a bond and guide the dogs to braver behavior.
This is a very detailed workshop and I will cover the overall philosophies and minutiae involved in thoroughly rehabilitating fearful and feral dogs. This workshop is aimed at dog trainers and other canine professionals, rescue, shelter staff and anyone else wanting to learn how to help fearful and feral dogs. Dog parents with fearful dogs are also welcome. We will be using fearful/feral dogs as examples. Working spots are limited to 5 and cost an additional $25. Extremely fearful or feral dogs are encouraged for working spots.
Rehab Train Thrive.
Sorry no refunds are given, but credit will be given for another workshop or online course I you cannot attend.
Agenda - I integrate classroom and hands-on learning during all days of the workshop. We will cover the rehabilitation philosophy first. Then we go over why leash training is an important first step and how to do this. I will talk about how and why to make a fearful or feral dog feel safe. (its not what you may think). I also talk about how not to loose fearful dogs, equipment, routine, how other dogs can help, detailed info about how to approach a fearful dog, and the dog’s daily life in a foster or adoptive home. I will demonstrate how to get a dog over specific fears of items or noises. Interspersed with classroom time is individual and group work with the attending dogs. We may take a field trip to a local park with the dogs. I will talk about the reasonable expectations and at what times milestones may be reached. Drinks and snacks are included. But to keep costs down it is BYOL (bring your own lunch) or you may go purchase lunch during the lunch hour at your expense. (some of the photos are from the 2023 workshop.)
Time is 9:00-4:30 on June 21 & 22. 9:00 to 2:00 pm on June 23.
